As the Technical Writing Manager, you will work with our technical writers, software engineers, analysts and solutions architects to develop and deliver technical documentation for complex software. In addition to individual production of technical documentation, the ideal candidate will have the expertise to influence, lead and educate people in publishing user manuals, how-to guides, white papers, product version news, and cookbooks. You will initiate, plan, and establish requirements while consulting and gaining commitment from key stakeholders.


Responsibilities of the Technical Writing Manager

  • Write technical documentation
  • Manage a geographically distributed team
  • Review the work of technical writers across all product lines
  • Establish guidelines and procedures for production of documentation
  • Ensure standard documentation methods are followed by the technical writing staff
  • Provide guidance on writing very technical documentation for a complex product
  • Ensure that project milestones are consistently met
  • Coach and lead the technical writing staff in their day-to-day job performance
  • Report to the Development Manager 



Requirements of the Technical Writing Manager

  • 5+ years of experience as an individual contributor in similar or related fields
  • 1-3 years supervisory experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • Proven leadership skills and experience
  • Portfolio of technical documents/presentations produced
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with team members
